It's been said that the richest place on earth is the graveyard...

When AJ and I got married, we agreed that our marriage was bigger than us. Yes, we love each deeply and it would make us both happy to commit our lives to each other but we were also doing it selflessly. We believed that our family, the young people in our lives, our future children, the black community and the world in general needed more exposure to a positive black couple loving each other unconditionally, defying statistics and pre-conditioned beliefs. It doesn't stop with our marriage, the same goes for our entire lives and so I sincerely hope that our journey moves you to live your best, unapologetic life (if you aren't already). I LOVE it when you tell me you've started a business, decided to return to your natural hair, paid off credit cards, etc. as a result of a conversation we've had or something I've written, this is literally what I live for and it makes me feel all tingly inside lol but I've also had conversations with people who have again felt inspired by us but when I check in on them, they haven't taken any action to live out their own dream and will be full of excuses as to why not. Let me tell you, my biggest fear is living a life of regret, being of old age (which is 110 according to AJ) and thinking about all the things I could have achieved.

It's been said that the richest place on earth is the graveyard:

"because it is here that you will find all the hopes and dreams that were never fulfilled, the books that were never written, the songs that were never sung, the inventions that were never shared, the cures that were never discovered, all because someone was too afraid to take that first step" - Les Brown I get it, we're bombarded by images of millionaires and social media personalities with ear to ear smiles saying "you can have this too" and they make it look so easy when we all know it's not. You won't see their failures or witness the years it took them to figure it all out and so their 'success' can seem overwhelming and out of reach. That's why for me, it was really important that we shared with you our journey from day one because we don't have a damn clue what we're doing but we're still doing it which really means you have no excuse! If there is something you want to achieve in life and you're sick and tired of being sick and tired then the following steps are for you! And this is a NO EXCUSES ZONE......NONE so I don't want to hear it. Do the following starting today, not on Monday or 2019, right now!

1) Ask yourself, what does success look like to you? I don't care what society or your mum says. You have to live with yourself everyday so set your own standards. If money was no object and all your outgoings were taken care of, what would you do with your free time?.....do that!!!

2) Find a reason bigger than yourself If you focus solely on your own desires it can be easy to lose motivation if the only person missing out on your awesomeness is you. For some it's God or Allah, it might be your children, spouse or local community but when you want to achieve a goal for a reason much larger than yourself you give your life a purpose and a reason to get our of bed every morning.

3) Believe that you deserve it & it's possible Many people never reach their potential because they don't feel worthy of dreaming so big. "Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be?" - Marriane Williamson No person on earth is more deserved of living a fulfilled life than any other. The only limits are in your mind. ANYTHING is possible if you would just open your mind to it and then take....

4) Action, Action, Action Whilst I'm here for positive affirmations, self-belief and listening to motivational speakers, it's pointless if you don't actually DO anything. "Faith without works is dead", "Actions speak louder than words", "You can do it put your back in to it" - lol. You've heard it all and it's true, you have to put the work in. My way was to do at least 1 thing every day that related to my goal. That way in one years time, you will have done 365 things towards your goal which will probably be quite significant and life altering. Anything is better than doing nothing!

5) Remain accountable Make sure that you have at least one other person that you can check in with on a regular basis. Someone who will be encouraging but honest and can tell you to fix up if you need to. Definitely not someone who is in a worse position than you in that area. Don't ask a broke person to be your accountability partner in your attempt to clear your debt! Ideally, it should someone who has achieved the goal you're working towards. Family, the time is now. You deserve to live a happy and fulfilled life. Start taking steps now to live your best life. Oh and let me know when you start taking steps to making your dreams a reality, I really do want to hear about it and if I'm able to, I'll help where I can.

Love & Light,

Chi
